Recipe: Barbecued Beef Brisket
- 4 to 5 pound beef brisket
- 1 medium onion, quartered
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cups catsup
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp liquid smoke
- 2 tsp celery seeds
- 1 tsp chili powder
- Place beef brisket, onion, garlic, bay leaf, amd enough water to cover into a kettle.
- Cover, and place over high heat until water begins to boil.
- Simmer for 2 1/2 hours or until tender.
- Phreat oven to 325° F.
- In a saucepan, mix the catsup, 1 cup water, and remaining ingredients. Heat to a boil.
- Drain brisket and place into a foil lined 8" x 12" baking pan.
- Pour 1/2 of the catsup mix over the brisket and spread evenly.
- Bake for 45 minutes. Baste occasionally.
- Heat remaining catsup mix over medium heat and serve with the brisket./li>
