Recipe: Caramel Corn
Caramel Corn
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- 2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup white Karo corn syrup
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 5 quarts popped corn
To make Caramel Corn
- Preheat oven to 250° F
- Combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt in saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.
- Boil until firm (crisp) ball stage (test in cold water).
- Remove from heat and stir in baking soda.
- Pour over popcorn in a large roasting pan.
- Bake in oven for 45-50 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove and spread on cookie sheets to cool.
