Recipe: Creamed Celery
- 4 cups celery
- 4 tbsps butter
- 2 tbsps flour
- 1/4 tsp garlic pepper
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup toasted slivered almonds
- 1/4 cup green onions with tops
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Cut celery in thin diagonal slices to measure 4 cups.
- Cut enough green onions with tops in 1 inch pieces to measure 1/4 cup.
- Melt butter in large frying pan; stir in celery.
- Cover and cook slowly, stirring several times, 10 minutes or until barely tender.
- Stir in onion; cook 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over vegetables, then blend in chicken broth.
- Cook, stirring constantly until sauce thickens and boils 1 minute.
- Stir in garlic pepper, Worcestershire sauce and milk.
- Heat slowly until hot.
- Spoon into dish and sprinkle with toasted slivered almonds.
