Recipe: Date Bread
- 1 cup dates, cut fine
- 1 cup hot water
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- Preheat oven to 350° f.
- Pour hot water over the chopped dates. Set aside.
- Cream together the butter and sugar.
- Add vanilla and egg to butter and sugar mix, and mix well.
- Dissolve the baking soda in 1/4 cup water and add to sugar mixture.
- Add dates to sugar mixture, and stir in.
- Mix in the flour a little at a time.
- Pour into a greased loaf pan, and bake for 1 hour.
