Devil's Food Cake Ingredients

• 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 cups sugar
• 5 eggs
• 2 sq unsweetened chocolate, melted or 1/2 cup cocoa
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 2 1/2 cups flour
• 2 tsps vanilla

To make Devil's Food Cake

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch baking pan
3. Beat butter and sugar.
4. Add one egg at a time to butter mixture; beat well.
5. Add melted chocolate or cocoa to butter mixture.
6. Mix baking soda to buttermilk.
7. Mix salt and flour together.
8. Add flour mixture, buttermilk mixture and vanilla to butter mixture; beat well.
9. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
10. Bake Devil's Food Cake for 25 - 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Chocolate Icing

• 1 box confectioners sugar
• 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
• 1/8 tsp salt
• 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
• 3 - 4 tbsps milk
• 6 tbsps cocoa for choloate frosting (optional)

To make Chocolate Icing

1. Combine all ingredients; beat well.
2. If chocolate icing is desired add 6 tbsps cocoa.
3. Spread frosting over top of cake.
