Groceries for Road-Tripping & Camping?

When ever Jon and I were going to be on the road for 4-5 hours going to a concert I would pack a cooler with pop and water. Id put some grapes & apples in their for me. Id make some sandwiches in case one of us got hungry and take some chips and crackers. Jon always had to have his zingers cakes. He loves those things lol. Driving back late usually Id stop and fill my thermos up with coffee cause I was gonna need it.

I would include fresh nuts in the shopping list. They make a healthy finger food that is easy to store.

You're absolutely right about that RCW!!! Very nutritious and tasty too!!!!:) And also fresh or dried fruit too. They also make this carton of milk now that does not need refrigeration until opened, it aint' half bad either!

I think that one of the most versatile items I like to have when camping is Bisquick. So many recipes come from that box. From biscuits, pancakes, cobblers and so much more.
Another must have is ingredients for campfire spaghetti. When camping the shock and awe of smelling the sauce cooking just warms the soul. Specially on those cold damp days.

Yeah IC it must be wonderful!

One morning I made eggs and hashbrowns with sauted onion, peppers, and we put cheese in the eggs and had sausage, the other campers were envious:D The smells outdoors were just awesome!!!

We both fly and camp alot. I have different requirements for each. For flying I need to pack a gluten free snack. I usually end up packing bars that I can eat on the way or save for breakfast one we get to our destination. You have to be careful though when you fly they won't let you take anything that isn't sealed.

For camping we always have packages of sausages. We love sausages roasted on a campfire. We also take mustard, salt, hot sauce, bread for DH, fruit, tomatoes, onions and cucumbers, cream cheese in a tub for toast, chocolate, marshmallows, pop and a couple bottles of wine. I would cook more but I have no interest in doing dishes while I'm camping so until DH decides he wants to do the clean up this is our usual menu. We like it anyway.
