I have considered buying one of these. I figure it might be handy for times when we travel and don't have the best of kitchens, or even for camping if we have electrical hookups.

Any experiences or recommendations?

We bought one a while ago at CostCo. I had never actually used one until we bought it at my boyfriend's insistance. I still haven't used it much but it's been expecially great for breakfast type food - scrambled eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage, etc. I would think it would definitely come in handy for travel.

I have a Farberware one and I love it! You can do anything with it - deep fry, bake - and its so easy to use!

I was wandering around in Wal*Mart yesterday and the electric skillets attracted my eye. I stopped and took a look at them, but didn't know if I would use it enough. I was thinking about those nice commercial griddles you see and restaurants, and what I would really love is to have an electric griddle that is large enough to cook hash browns for three along with an omelet, and didn't have sides on it so it's easy to flip the hash browns, pancakes, and omelets.

I like my electric skillet because it does more than just "fry". Griddles are great! I get so much use ouf of both my stove top one (takes 2 burners) and my electric one. To be honest - I don't think I could chose betwen the two!
