I don't own one. DH and i used to have one but only used it a couple times so i freecycled it. Sometimes i think about getting another one to try again, but i don't know. We don't eat beef nor typical 'american' dishes, so most crock pot recipes don't fit our diet. What do you all think?

Raquelita -

Of course it is your preference - but I could not live without one! Using one is just like using a Dutch oven and slow cooking in the oven for hours. A crockpot/slow cooker can be used to cook anything - appetizers, beverages, desserts, cakes, breads, casseroles, soups, stews, meats/poultry/game, etc., pasta dishes, sauces, sandwiches - you name it. I do use mine all year 'round (actually I have a 1-qt., two 3 1/2 qt. and a 6 qt.) and I love it during the summer months because I don't need to use the oven and the house stays cooler.

If you need any particular recipes for foods you enjoy - just ask - I have many for the crockpot and I am willing to share them with anyone who would like them!

But this is just my opinion -

:p

I have pot too. It gets used rarly as I dont really like stew and that is the only thin I know how to cook in it. I like it though, I seems that things are easy to cook in it.

Another thing crockpots are good for is when you're entertaining. When my family has holiday get togethers everyone always uses crockpots to keep multiple things warm. My mom always uses it to keep mashed potatoes warm or a smaller one for gravy. I make taco filling in mine, and have made spaghetti sauce in it as well.
