Anyone have any good recipes for the microwave..

I am told that the micro wave uses a great deal of electricy in very little time..is this true?

I make lots of stuff in my microwave - especially oatmeal (even 'slow cooking') and couscous. It's also awesome for reheating things, and for melting butter for recipes.

My favorite is popcorn

I really love the instant popcorn.

Quick and nutritious snack..if it doesn't have too much butter or salt.

I use my microwave for so many things! I cook all the puddings for my pies... meatloaves...bread puddings....cakes...muffins...all my candies....hamburger that goes into casseroles...fudge sauce...lots of other sauces.
I don't know about the "electricity" thing.
If you have anything specific in mind you would like...let me know and I'd be glad to share with you.
Most things are just regular recipes though...it's more of a "timing" thing when you do them in the microwave.

I use mine for all kinds of things:

Melting butter, chocolate, etc.
Steam-cooking veggies
Popcorn
Roasting chicken

And heating up leftovers of course!

I use my microwave more than I would like to admit. *blushes*

I don't know about the electricity usuage of a microwave. That is a very interesting thought, though. I had always guessed that a microwave was efficient, at least by comparison to convential methods, because of the quicker cooking times. I would be interested to know what the real deal is!

I use my microwave a lot, too. I don't really have any recipes for it, though, as a lot of the things I put in there are already precooked either from the oven (leftovers) or a fast snack or fast lunch that came pre-packaged.

Does anyone cook eggs or pancakes in it.. I know pancakes come ready made..but can someone cook them from scratch in micro? Just a curious question.. Yes I use my micro alot..And when it's not used for cooking I put my bread in there ..so my cats don't paw the package and leave little holes in the bread bag..LOL

You can cook eggs in it if you 1. scramble them first or 2. break the yolk. I do this for egg sandwiches sometimes. I like to spray the plate I put them on first as they have a tendency to stick. I haven't tried pancakes...but I want to now! I'll try it this evening if we're not too busy...and let you know it went for me!

I heard that for scrambled eggs in the microwave you should add a Tablespoon of milk and butter..The milk keeps the eggs from turning green and the butter or margarine keeps them from sticking.

Nods!

My mom has this neat microwave oven omelette maker. I was surprised that it actually works! You just have to be sure to add the butter or else the eggs taste blah and tend to stick. :D

Don't ever put a marshmallow in the microwave and leave the room... My brother did that when we were about 10 and 11, and it was a MESS. We were making smores in the microwave & he put a single marshmallow in there, set it for like 30 seconds, and left the kitchen. This all happened after I was done with my smores.

It took me hours to get all the stupid marshmallow out of the microwave because it sat for at least 2 hours before Mom came home and tried to use the microwave. I could have killed my brother that night.
