Le Creuset

I saw the most awesome pot at TJ Maxx. It's a Le Creuset stock pot. It looks almost like a dutch oven, and it's just as heavy.

I want this pot really badly, but it's over $100 (discounted  ). Are Le Creuset products worth the money? Will they last for years?

I have heard that they are awesome if you are a serious chef. If i got one as a gift i would be thrilled, though i probably wouldn't buy one on my own,

I don't think I'd pay that much for a pot, unless I was a professional chef.

Of course, this comes from the person who's happy with the $35 set of pans from Wal-Mart. Now if I could find some decent cookie sheets..... For some reason, I'm really picky about my cookie sheets & cake pans, but not my skillets or saucepans.

I think they're worth the money, though I don't own any. I want to buy a dutch oven though, and maybe another piece or two.

Yeah, and why aren't there non-stick cookie sheets? I've looked for years for one. While cookies are self greasing, I use cookie sheets for lots of stuff and would love to have a non-stick one.

Wow, is that $100.00 for a single pot? I got a nice set of Circulon at Costco for $200.00. They're heavy, clean easily, cook food well, and can be cooked in an oven to 400 deg F.

I say if you like the pot, and have a good use for it [i.e. you can justify it and will use it] then get the Le Creuset stock pot. I put off buying the Circulon for years, and could hit myself in the head for delaying. Ouch

The PX has the oval dutch oven for 195 bucks (no tax) and am thinking of getting one. We have the Martha Stewart made in china clone and heard they break on a stove top burner. There is a lot of factors for this but our gas stove top is easier to regulate than the old electric top. What I do is start with a skillet, then transfer to the enamel dutch oven to put into the oven. I will ask Santa for the LeCreuset. I have a son who is a professional chef and he will get my stuff anyway.
