Sticking

Can anyone give me some tips to keep my chicken from sticking to the grill. I use grill spray, but it still sticks. Chicken is the only meat I have a problem with.

Are you putting the BBQ sauce or whatever on the meat first? I know that causes it to stick more. I usually wait till the last 5 minutes or so to start putting the sauce on, this way it sticks less and the sauce isn't burned.

I had a cookout today and I didnt put any type of sauces on until the last few minutes and this worked for me. I am a little sauce crazy when I am grilling so this time I didnt do that and my meat did not stick at all.

It's probably better that way, also because the sugar in the sauces can cause them to burn if they're on there too long.

Sounds like you had a successful Labor Day cookout; good for you! I'm jealous; we met some family at an Italian restaurant. It was delicious; but nothing beats a cookout on these holidays.

I agree... I wish we could have had a cookout, but with the burn ban, it's a big no no right now. So I made some spareribs in the oven (first time making them ever) and they turned out all right. I think I cooked them a little too long, or maybe not long enough because they were a little tough. Not tough like jerky, but not falling off the bones tender either, just about in the middle though. Everyone liked them, even the 15 month old. She ate almost a whole (small) rack on her own, there were 8 bones in it, and she ate the meat off 6 of them. She impressed her daddy, that's for sure.

After you clean your grill, get the cooking surface really hot and with a clean rag, rub oil all over it. Works for me fine, but I also wait 'till the last few minutes to add sauce.

Prior to grilling I will get the grill very hot, then rub an oil soaked rag over the grilling surface. I virtually never have a sticking problem because of this. Hope this helps~
