Lost Forever Kitchen Art?

I've had my eyes open for something from my growing-up years that I hope isn't lost to me forever... maybe one of you can help?

Hanging in our kitchen my Mom had a really neat, rustic-looking piece of art. It was made to look like a wood carving that measured aprox. 16" X 20" and hung on the wall. The heavy resin "carving" was dark brown and was a "still relief" showing the corner of a table with a large mixing-bowl that had a wooden spoon handle sticking from out of it. There were a couple of broken eggshells resting on the table alongside of the bowl and in the background was a skillet hanging on a hook. The composition looked very much like a cake batter or some such was in process. The "carved" artist's signature in the bottom right-hand corner read: "Kelly".

I know that Mom got this piece by trading S&H Green Stamps for it... after many years thru some weird family events it was somehow lost. I would love to find another today- I know more have to exist somewhere. I've posted similar queries elsewhere and have looked time and again on e-bay.

Does this sound at all familiar to anyone? Ideas?

Your description sounds soooo familiar CAG! My mom also used S&H Green Stamps (Gosh you are bringing back great memories there!!!) I will keep racking my brain and looking into this and will let you know when and if I can remember anything (Worse comes to worse I'll paint you one, there's more than one way to kill a bird!)

Cathy

Awww... how sweet, Cathy! You're so kind and generous. (BTW- I plan to respond to your PM late tonight during my my nightly insomnia-fit! Stay tuned!)

Cool, by the way my Eddie is some better, what a scare, and he got to eat yeah!!! Tonight I hope to get some sleep so I will look forward to your reply......tomorrow. LOL

I got little to no sleep the past 2 nights due to him suffering so!

I know it is right in my mind the painting you are speaking of, it will come to me I know it will! Probably my Dad had one he sold at one time in all his wheeling and dealing, he was terrific at what he did! I loved to go with him on selling trips, I would just sit back and watch him in awe, he was always so upbeat when he was making money Ha-ha!

I think I may have it!

Kevin do a search on Cynthia Kelly and see what you come up with!!! Do not forget google.com and then go to images and type in her name, also just do an in-depth search on her; O.K. go find it BRO!

Let me know, I am pretty sure she painted in the styles you mentioned!

I love a good mystery:D

CAG - I know just what your mom had!

Cripe S&H Green Stamps - what about Dollar Doublers from Acme Supermarket??? Same concept.

I'll keep my eyes open for you!

Mama

Wow, mama and Cathy... it excites me just to know that someone may really know exactly what I'm talking about! If I can ever lay my hands on one of these "wooden wall scultures" I'll be a really happy man!

Did You Do An On-line Search For Cynthia Kelly? I Am Fairly Certain She Is The Artist You Are Referring To!

For Google.com (images) Type In Cynthia Kelly Paintings.

Good Luck, Cathy

I hope you'll all forgive me for trying to breathe new life into this thread. We've got many new members and I was hoping to get wider exposure to my quandry amongst all the newbies, just in case one of them might know or recall what it is I'm searching for! Please scroll up and read my first post from back in June... (Crossing my fingers!)

I'm not familiar with that peice of Art Kev...but... oh....the memories of S&H Green Stamps. My Mom and Grandmother used to collect those too.

Francie you remember them too!!! That is so neat! I actually got to cash some in before they went out of business, my Mom was big on them! I used to love their catalog's and would pour over them for hours deciding what to buy, my Mom gave me all her stamps to redeem when I first was a newly wed, I thought I'd died and went straight to heaven:) Shortly afterwards they folded:(

Yes Cathy ! I remember them well.....used to help stick those stamps in the books and I too loved look through the catalog's.I wish they were still around :p

I'm trying to think of the stamps that came before the S&H Green Stamps. I think they were Blue (Yah, I'm old).

I don't know how many things Mom had around the house that she got from trading stamps. Clocks, bedspreads, dishes... I also recall a fat snowman cookie jar and matching Christmas Tree cookie platter. And I remember the brightly colored dish-towels found at the bottom of boxes of "Breeze" laundry detergent and free glasses with a fill-up at the gas station! (Deja vu! We've shared about this once already- or maybe it was elsewhere? Or maybe I'm just a sleepy-head! I'm off to bed all, night-night!)

We've got many new members since I first posted this over a year ago. But since I'm still on the lookout for it- I thought it might be well-worth it to post again!

Here in Texas way back when, we had the green stamps as well as black gold stamps. I got lots of camping gear with them. We never had money for such stuff. I would save them now to, if still around. CF:)
