Does anyone have a good wine recommendations?

I'm planning on getting a bottle as a wedding gift, but I just don't know what to choose.

I'm thinking red, but I'm really open to anything. Preferably in the under $20 range (we don't like them THAT well :p )
 
Hehe, we tend to drink very inexpensive wine, but I have a couple of ideas.

I like Llano Estacado, both the merlot and the signature red.

And Penfolds shiraz. And Rosemount shiraz

All those are in the price ranges you're thinking.
 
I would also recommend picking up a copy of Cooking Light; there are wine recommendations in every issue.
 
we drink pretty inexpensive stuff too. And we have a favorite, but I don't know that it really suits everyone's taste.

For a gift, should I go with a red or a white (or blush even)? Which do you think would appeal to a larger majority?


and....since it's a wedding gift, should we go with a 2007 wine (wedding year), or should we just get something that's aged a little more?
 
I would go with a red or a blush. I think that purchasing a 2007 would be nice since they are getting married this year. They might want to keep the bottle til next year or something.

If you have a store called BevMo which is a nice liquor store they are very friendly and can help you with your selection.
 
I haven't ever heard of BevMo, but there's a liquor store not too far from my husband's work that's always been helpful when we didn't know what to look for. Maybe I'll have him stop in one day and see what he can find.

a 2007 - red (or blush)....hmmm....decisions, decisions.
 
I think I would have a heard decision with this one as well. Especially if you are not sure what they will drink. But I love the idea.
 
For reds I like Pinot Noirs (my favorite is Oregon King Estate) but might be a bit pricy for your need here. King Estate also makes a geat pinot gris too.
for whites there are a couple of really nice chardonnays
Estancia chardonnay
Hayman and Hill chardonnay

If you can find it, there is a good dessert wine from Cap Rock Winery called Texas Blush.
