INGREDIENTS:

* 1/2 cup butter, melted
* 1 teaspoon garlic salt
* 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
* 1/8 teaspoon dried basil
* 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
* 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
* 1 (1 pound) loaf French bread, halved lengthwise

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
2. In a small bowl, mix butter, garlic salt, rosemary, basil, thyme, garlic powder and Parmesan cheese.
3. Spread each half of the French bread with equal portions of the butter mixture. Sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese, if desired.
4. Place bread halves, crusts down, on a medium baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are very lightly browned.

It's so interesting to see garlic bread made without fresh cloves of garlic. How does the garlic salt/powder compare? I grew up in an Italian household and we never owned garlic salt/powder since we always had tons of the fresh stuff around :).

I love garlic bread and this recipe is mouth watering, makes me wanna cook spaghetti right now, but it's 11 pm here already :D

That looks very similar to how I make my garlic bread. I love using garlic powder. It's so much easier than using cloves & it has the same taste, to me anyway. :)

this is an easy recipe if you would like to try it:

1/2 cup butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 loaf unsliced Italian bread

Combine butter and garlic in a small microwave dish. Microwave on high for 1 - 2 minutes, until butter is barely melted. Remove from microwave and stir in Italian seasoning, paprika and Parmesan cheese.

Slice bread into thick diagonal slices. Place slices on a large baking sheet. Spread top of each slice with garlic butter. Place in oven, about 4 inches from the broiler. Heat on broil for 2 - 3 minutes, until lightly toasted. Serve immediately.
