Makes 3 dozen

You won't be able to keep these long in the cookie jar!!

2 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened (unsalted butter is preferred)
3/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup light or dark corn syrup
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla
1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chunks
1 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350* F.

In medium bowl, whisk flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.

In bowl of mixer, combine butter and brown sugar; beat on medium until fluffy; gradually beat in corn syrup; beat in egg and vanilla, mixing well. Gradually beat in flour mixture until just combined; stir in chocolate chunks and pecans.

Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake in preheated oven 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned; cool on wire rack.

VARIATION: "Stripe" lightly with a drizzle of chocolate or vanilla glaze.;)
