Allergies Stink!

It is impossible to cook when you cannot smell or taste the food your preparing!
I can't taste anything and can only vaguely smell the food.

It is supposed to be 90 here again today with high humidity. I hate this weather. Give me a nice cool Fall day any time over this. I spend the whole summer looking forward to October.

you sound like me - I do not like the heat - it just wears me down to nothing
and I love the fall of the year
it's a bit cooler here - supposed to warm up - the rains finally stopped - cripe it rained all through the month!

96 here today but the rain comes back on Wed and it is supposed to cool back down a bit. I know some people here who are sick with allergies that have turned into nasty colds.
Gardens have begun to grow a little. If anyone has a garden around here they are all going to be very late ones.

It was unbearable yesterday. I thought I was going to pass out. It cooled just a bit in the middle of the night, then it started up this morning - now it's really breezy and tolerable.
Ive got this feeling it's going to be a hot hot hot summer.

Do you not have an air conditioner Mama?
Our high here today was 88 which was not bad at all. Tomorrow the high is supposed to be the lower 80's which will be nice. The day after it goes back into the upper 90's for several days. My old car does not have a working ac and I hate getting out for 15 min and then having to come home and jump in the shower. At least in the winter you can throw on a coat and don't have to shower 2-3 times a day. We went from having to much rain to needing it bad. Those screaming hot days have dried out everything.

My little herb pots on the balcony are doing pretty well. We will see how they hold up in the heat. I have a pot of mint started for the lady who cuts our hair out there to see how it holds up for a few days before I give it to her.
I dug 6 heads of garlic from the garden today to see how they were doing. They are a nice size and should be ready to harvest totally by the end of June. The oregano looks beautiful. It is huge. I like to brush my hand over it when I am out there and it smells so good. The other herbs are doing well except the dill. Last year for some reason no one could get it to grow either. I had people offering to buy what I had to make pickles. I needed what I had to make my own pickles but I offered to share some with them for free. Does not look like it is going to do any better this year. Last year we had to put it out three times before it took. We have out about 50 or so tomato plants. I do hope they do well. Jon's brother has like 400 + tomato plants out but they raise theirs to sell at the farmers market.

get this - furnace ran all night - it was in the low 30's and we had frost - typical here -
no A/C - someday I hope to have it -
it's so dang cold it feels like winter and the day before yesterday they had snow in Ontario, Canada - just over the river from us -
that's how it is here

We got down to 50 last night. It started out nice today but got in the upper 90's again. Crazy weather. We need rain bad.
I stopped at a produce stand in Ashland today and the guy was trying to convince me he had just picked obvious hot house tomatoes this morning. I did get some nice green beans and little baby taters.
