Am Being Dragged to a Hotel Brunch on Sunday...

I used to LOVE working brunches, but am not always a big fan, as a "civilian", as I don't care for crowds and the whole "whoever eats the fastest- gets the mostest" atmosphere.

What foods/stations do you all gravitate towards first when attending a brunch? Mimosas? Omelets? Oyster bar? Carving station? What are your favorite aspects to brunches- and your keenest disappointments- if any?

I was always a biscuits & gravy/eggs benedict/prime rib/fresh fruit guy! But now? It's been so long, I'm not sure just what will draw me near...

Oh wow, janie!

As I said- I don't much like going as a customer- but I LOVED working them when I was in kitchens! They're a lot of hard work- but SO fun, and a nice break from the normal daily/nightly menu work on the restaurant line in a hotel kitchen...

For most folks- they're pretty impressive. The only reason I'm not persoanlly so fond of them is because I worked them for so many years...

Last hotel brunch I attended we still lived in Illinois. And we've been here for 20 years. So it's been awhile.

I can't even remember what it was like. It was a much touted event, at a place in, IIRCC, Gurney. Or maybe Round Lake? Anyway, everybody talked about it. So we finally made a point of it.

Loud, raucous crowd; poorly stocked serving tables; and food that was only so-so at best. I couldn't understand what the shouting was all about.

Usually if I'm at a brunch it's one I've prepared myself for a group of friends. And everything served at those is superlative, if I say so myself.
