Cute Pics

Most of you know I had a pet bunny for years who passed away about two years ago. Well I have been thinking of getting a new bunny. I was doing some browsing online tonight and found a couple of cute pics to share. These are lion lops. They are a cross between lionhead rabbits and holland lop rabbits. Havent found anyone in this area who breeds them though. My last bunny was 13+ pounds with long angora hair which took a lot of work to maintain. If I get another bun it would have to be smaller with short hair.

This was my bunny Baron. He was a blue english angora buck. I still miss the furball. I always loved this pic because he looks like he is smiling.

When my daughter was younger she had a long haired lop. He was a nightmare to keep groomed. I would say definitly get the shorter haired version.

I could get the one in the middle of this pic. They are lionlops. The middle one needs a home and was offered to me for free. I want to know more about it first though and think it over a bit. How old is it and is it healthy first and formost.

Well they were supposed to have come from a military wife who had to rehome them when her hubby was shipped overseas. All but the middle one was rehomed already. Supposed to be around 9-10 months old and weigh about 3 pounds. I like the idea of getting a bun who needs a home but I wonder how tame she is gonna be having been in an outside hutch for two months on a farm. You can bet she would take a cold being moved inside right off the bat.

Oh yeah .. I loved Baron but I will never get another long hair bunny as long as I live.

Aww, aren't they the cutest bunnies ever!

jglass, when my daughter was young, she had 3 bunnies as pets.
They were adorable too!
One of the bunnies was a "Dutch", but he had blue eyes instead of brown.
My daughter use to refer to him as the psycho bunny, as he was quite a rambunctious character.
But still, we loved him just as much as we did the other bunnies.

Blue eye bunnies are some of the most beautiful and harder to find bunnies. Breeders always want a higher price for the blue eye rabbits especially if they are white. Most dwarf breeds are hyperactive which is one of things holding me back on getting this one. Hyper activity is a drawback with the little bunnies. My last bun Baron had hair that required a lot of work but he was fat and lazy lol.

All my daughters rabbits would indulge in an unflattering act called "flicking". This involved jumping up in the air while kicking their back legs at you while urinating. This resulted in a spraying of your legs if you were standing and worse if you were sitting. I was told it was a defensive act. After having a pair of dress pants "christened" this way I told her that was step one in the preparing of rabbit stew.

I got lucky with Baron. He never once sprayed urine and I had girl bunnies. Everyone always used to think him being the color blue was so unusual and I always told them he was only blue because he was depressed I never let him breed.
I decided to pass on the bunny for now. Dwarf breeds are hyper and prone to spraying. Non spayed females can be very cage aggressive and mean. Im gonna keep my eyes out for one that needs a home around here and maybe get one later.

my daughter used to adopt orphaned rabbits. Usually a few weeks after Easter the novelty wears off and people are looking to get rid of them.

I found a girl about 50 miles from here who is gonna have lionlop babies in the late spring. I asked her to let me know when she has some available. I will have to go to the petstore and see how bunnys do my allergies these days. The older I get the worse my allergies get.
