How many here work at home

At the moment, I am a housewife. I have been looking for things to do from home. I think I'm probably going to do medical transcriptionist or something like that. I'm not sure yet.

I've been looking for a legit work-at-home job for over a year now. It seems like most are just type at home scams. I have a membership to a site that provides web hosting, and walks you step-by-step through setting up your own home business. It costs $30/month, but they also give you a way to earn the membership fees by submitting articles to them for cahs. But I can't keep it up right now, so I'm going to cancel my account, and then when I get more time, I'll try again.

I would also like to do this but wondering how much the trainign would cost.

My training from career step (all online) cost $1800, but there are different options and routes to go. They are all described on the website with the costs all laid out. Personally, if I had it to do over again, I would have just gotten the gold option online. Plus you have the option of getting a sallie mae loan.

There are top 3 legit schools to attend (Companies hire new grads from these schools as well):

Career Step -- Cheapest, learn at your own pace. Took 8 months for me.
M-Tec
Andrews

All three of these schools have excellent reputations.

Thats more money than I have.

Barbie, a lot of the time these schools have payment plans, so you don't have to pay all at once.

as for me, I'm a stay-at-home-mom now. I used to do editing from home, as a contractor for my old company, but that got phased out after September 11 (so, yeah, a while back). I thought I'd get hardly any work done doing that job, being at home and with so many distractions and temptations, but the truth is that I actually got more done, because I didn't have the commute, the lunches, the long meetings where I had to look attentive (they can't see you on speakerphone! but be sure you have your end on mute!), or all the water-cooler chitchat.

I am a SAHM so i 'work at home' that way, and then i also teach part-time (5 hours a week) to bring in a little extra $$ to meet our budget.

I work from home. Mostly I do eBay for income. This requires a little out of home work for buying what I'm selling...but it brings in enough money to pay the bills. Hubby sells at fleamarkets and I go do that with him too. But we can take the kids...so this is another plus.

I also build webpages for a VERY VERY cheap rate. I sell webpages for a very well known hosting company and sometimes, depending on the demeaner of the customer, I won't charge them for actually building the page if they agree to host with the company. I just let the affiliate pay cover the cost of building.

I'm a housewife...
My son (22) lives on his own and only comes home to wash clothes and raid the pantry...so I have a very very easy life.

Hubby..works hard enough for the both of us. lol.

Im a "housewife", my husband is abroad, we just got married one year ago and we have no kids yet. Im currently studying medical transcription here in Manila and it's really great. I do part time transcription on the net to help improve my English and to also earn a little something.

Aah, so I decided I would go ahead & keep my account. I just rearranged my schedule a little so I can get the articles written & still have time to work on my website. If anyone's interested in learning more about this, send me a PM and I'll answer any questions you have.

How does this work what is your home business? Do you make money at this? And do you find it worth your time?

Pretty much what you do is, write 6 articles a month to cover the monthly fees (I write one a day, the extra articles are extra money in my Paypal account & then transferred to my bank account), build a website, join certain affliate programs & Google AdSense (where you display the ads, not write & pay for the ads), and slowly the money starts coming in. Everything's laid out step-by-step in the lessons on the member site. It's not a get rick quick thing, but you will earn money.

You don't have to build your own website & everything else. You can just write articles & earn around $400 a month from just those. I've seen a gentleman claiming to make $500 a month, but I've done the math & I don't see how he can do that. Each article's worth $5 (it only takes me about an hour to do that, usually less) & you can only have 3 in for approval at a time. Even if you get all 3 approved in less than a day, which I've never had done, & it's a 31 day month, you'll only get $465 from articles, minus the $30 monthly fee, and your profit for the month is $435.

I'm currently working on my first website, but it's slow going because I'm very html stupid. I can do just about anything on the computer or Internet, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to write html code.

Hey can I see your website that you are working on and all that ht what ever codes I don't even know what that is so I don't know if I would be any good at this or not.

Html code is the code computers use to decide how a website is supposed to look on your screen. It includes fonts, smilies, colors, pictures, links, everything. It can be pretty confusing. I just downloaded a program that supposed to make the html code easier to work with because it shows you what everything will look like, as you type in the code. I hope it helps me, I have a terrible time taking the code & 'seeing' the finished website.

As for my website, right now it's just a basic screen. I haven't made any changes to the template that I chose from the member site. I will let you take a look at it once I get some writing in it... hopefully sometime this week.

Hey phoenyxstarr, if you need HTML help let me know :) You can yahoo message me as rt49andellis Also...get a notebook JUST for writing down codes and/or a notebook (the program) file for the more difficult ones.

A good site for learning or grabbing codes is http://www.htmlgoodies.com

But like I said....if you need help, let me know :)

I am a computer analyst programmer and it takes me about an hour to get to work on good days and an hour and half on bad days. I am luck though and can work 1 day a week from home. It seems that I get more work done when I work from home than when I am in the office - less interruptions.
