...help jump-start my efforts at getting my cookbook published.

Book is still at second publisher and haven't heard a word since just after the holidays- AGH!

A new batch of query-letters and book-proposals just went out...

Since it's roughly well over a $150 to prepare and package each manuscript packet that gets mailed out, I've decided to work some extra hours and by mid- or end of summer be able to mass-mail 30-40 boxes to various potential publishers.

I'll be used as kitchen help and wait/bar-tending staff at several seasonal events at a local country club. I'm kinda looking forward to dabbling back in F&B again for a while- but hope I am not so fond of it that I choose to remain on staff! ;)

Sorry to hear you have to work more - but I think you will really enjoy it!

I hope you find a great publisher soon - and don't forget - I want an autographed copy!

Kevin, I am sure you have done lots of research on books. But I have a cook book I want to publish. It was written by a friend of mine that has now passed on. Anyway I have been looking at this site,
Self Publish a Book - Lulu.com
Might be of help. CF:)

At least the second job is something you enjoy and are good at doing.

CF, I wish you and Kevin both the greatest of luck in self-publishing your cookbooks - I'd never have either the patience or the money to do this!
However, CF, think twice about LULU. My granddaughter self-published a book she wrote while she was in college and did it through LULU and it cost her an immodest fortune!! And she got very little feedback from it and ended up having to do all her own marketing at her own expense. I suspect she probably needed a good agent!!
