Have you guys been reading the story about Ina turning down a little boy from Make a Wish? I had emailed FN after reading the story and got this reply.

Hello. We appreciate you taking the time to write to us regarding the recent news article released by TMZ regarding Ms. Garten.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America has requested that we direct all inquiries to their web site, Make-A-Wish Foundation : National Home Page.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Food Network Customer Service

From what I have read Ina has been a supporter of Make a Wish in the past but rejected this little boys request to cook a meal with her when he could have had anything he wanted. She stated she did not have the time. This little guy wanted to spend some of his precious time cooking a meal with her. It is very sad she turned him down. I will no longer watch her show or buy her cookbooks after this. Right is right and this was just wrong.

I agree iwth you - and she should be ashamed of herself. She doesn't have the time? She is cooking anyway. It's not like he asked for her to take him out and spend the day away from her taping. And this little guy wouldn't even care about being on her show - he just wanted to cook with her. She'll get hers. Sorry - you sow what you reap.

I have no idea who she is, because we don't have television in our home. Lets just say I hope karma comes back with a vengeance. This is why I hate celebraties.

I read that Beau MacMillan and Michael Symon both offered to cook with the little boy after hearing about this. Beau offered to fly the entire family out and put them up in a fancy hotel and bring the little boy to his restaurant and cook with him. Symon was going to be in the boy's area and offered to come to his home and visit/cook with him.

Ina's camp is now saying she did not know anything about the boy til like yesterday and that it was her staff who issued the two rejections to him. They say she called him yesterday and offered to have him come to FN and have a cook out with her but the family declined.

When a child who is battling a life threatening illness chooses you over a trip to Disney World or anything else he can think of you should be honored. Maybe this is just a sore spot for me because I have lost so much family to cancer.
I was shocked that FN actually replied to my inquiry on the topic. First time that has ever happened.

FN doesn't like to face anything - I know - all I ever got from them were computer generated responses - but I still don't believe Ina - and I don't care what they say - it's too late for me to change my mind - period.
