Ok, I've seen so many interesting, wonderful, intriguing names that y'all give yourselves and was wondering if you would mind sharing why you chose that particular name for yourself---no, Dr. Phil isn't lurking in the background:D :D
I'll share with you why I chose "expatgirl". An expat(short for expatriate) is someone who lives outside of their home country. Our first foreign posting was in Egypt for 6 years, back to Houston for 4 more and now to Kazahstan. I had a wonderful, kooky friend in Egypt and she composed a song using the same tune as Elton John's "Uptown Girl" and turned it into "Expat girl living in an Expat World". It was an immediate hit--anyway that's where expat girl comes from.:p

Ok here I go I made my name up back when I was maybe 24 or so everyone said that I looked like a barbiedoll I was tall skinny had long blonde hair so I chose that name 1973 the year I was borned and TN is where I am from.

I picked the first part of my name years ago, Phoenyx. When I was in college, I regularly played an online game (I still occasionally play, but not very often) & my user name is Phoenyx. I chose that name because I like phoenixes, but there was already a phoenix as a monster in the game, so I couldn't use Phoenix. My friend suggested changing the 'i' to a 'y' and sure enough that worked.

The second part, Starr, is my married name. It's not very original, I know, but it's me & I like it. :D

I just knew there were stories behind all your names----thanks y'all so much for sharing.. Anyway, for the rest of you seeing this thread, don't be shy!!!!

Well, I like butterflies & I like to daydream...so I just put the 2 together. LOL That's how I got my name. I just thought it sounded neat. :)

My name came from:

mt--medical transcriptionist
mom--obvious, lol
J-- for Jamie, my name

My name comes from a Peter Sellers movie "I Love you Alice B Toklas". Peter plays a lawyer that falls for a girl (me) that makes special brownies ... I love those old Peter Sellers movies. BTW: My favorite "unknown" Sellers movie is "The Party". It's a classic comedy that for some reason isn't played much. If you see The Party on the TV guide, watch for classic Sellers humor.

It's a nickname my Mexican coworkers gave me years ago and i've stuck with it since :).

OT - Kazakhstan, what an interesting place to live!

My name is from my favorite seasoning, Old Bay. I love it with seafood, french fries, and has brown potatoes. But it's best with crabs, crab cakes, crab imperial, and snow crabs too. Oh and Shrimp too!

I love butterflies and grew a butterfly garden before moving overseas. I also love old Peter Sellers movies--especially The Pink Panther and I love Old Bay seasoning on seafood. I'd like to know what's in it (maybe Google can enlighten) So I guess we all have a lot in common! Thanks for sharing. :}

I'm not too original - I've been a "mama" to just about everyone and the "mangia" - well - being Italian you hear it and use it every day!

me - first 2 letters of my first name
da - first 2 letters of my middle name
ko - first 2 letters of my last name

original, huh?

Okay mine is pohto because that is my fiance's and soon to be my last name, and 9, because between us there are 9 children. LOL.

Mine came from how my family pronounced my name as a kid. My name is Angela and my mom wanted me to be nicknamed Angel (why didnt she jsut name me Angel then??) and I got stuck with Angie from Friends and school. But my family called me 'an-jul' (rhymes with bull. lol) hence angewl. 73 is the year I was born.
