Anyone catch this show tonight?

The base of the show is Jamie Oliver is trying to teach people in Huntington WV to eat healthier and give up a diet heavy on processed foods. Huntington WV is about 60-70 miles or so from here.
Huntington was in the spotlight a year or so ago for being the most obese city in the US I think. I was kinda fascinated to see how he documented the schools using more processed bad for our kids food because it is cheaper and quicker to make. Of course the kids love the processed foods flavor.
He even took some kids into his kitchen and showed them how scraps of chicken bones and skin can be used with other fillers to make chicken nuggets. The kids watched him grind up chicken bones and skin then strain and mix with a few other things and make nuggets. The children choose these nuggets to eat over the other pieces of chicken like the breast or wings. Makes me grateful my two sis's small kids are healthier eaters. At one point Jamie Oliver went into a class of small children and none of them could identify fresh vegetables. They didnt even know what a potato looked like and that was what their beloved fries came from. You can understand a kindergarten child maybe not recongizing an eggplant but being unable to know a tomato or cucumber on sight is terrible.

Made me very grateful my little nieces love veggies even if you don't want to be trapped in the back seat with them 2 hours after they have had a plate broccoli. If it wasnt 10 degrees outside that day I would have hung my head out the window like a dog lol. The six year old is a princess to the bone who will look you straight in the eye and swear she has never passed gas in her life while turning red from head to toe.

I tell ya- my sister has quite a narrow food palette and she's raised her kids the same way. And she's a working mother- God bless her- and I know she needs easy & practical foods most of the time. But I swear, if her kids didn't have an uncle who dragged them into the kitchen every chance he got- those yungin's would have no idea that chicken nuggets even came from a feathered critter w/ claws and a beak! (supposedly, anyway!) :)

Yes indeed it is a good thing they have Uncle Kev.
My sister can be heavy on the prepacked stuff for the sake of convenience.
