I am curious about the cooking style of all of the new members we have. My style is southern comfort food with a splash of Italian. My little sis says she sounds like Paula Deen and I cook like her. There is nothing I like better than whipping up a batch of crispy buttermilk fried chicken or a pot of risotto.

So what is your style?

I'm very eclectic. At heart, I love Middle Eastern cooking as I grew up with that. So, I tend to go towards that when I plan my meals. I also love Rachael Ray and her 30 minute meal philosophy, so I've sort of tweaked some of my mom's recipes to make it in less time. So, I love the "simple, but flavorful" approach. Nothing fancy!

In case I had not said it before welcome to the forum Sevgi. I am going to have to try some middle eastern recipes. I would love to learn to do other styles of cooking.

This is a hard one, Janie.

As a former professional chef, I kinda do everything... or did- when at work, anyway...

My personal "style" at home ranges from the simplest ever "picnic-basket food"- a hodge-podge of chilled items feasted on in a car, on the porch, or in the grass... cheese & crackers, smoked salmon, salami, olives, fruit, a baguette and some cured meats and tapenade or herb mayo... or a steak & salad... roasted chicken & salad... cold fried chicken and slaw... or something Alaskan- salmon, wild game, crab... and always DESSERT too.

When cooking for a gathering at home I like to do soups and berry cobbler/crisp in winter, salads and strawberry shortcake in summer, steaks, pasta, or Alaskan menus.

I would just have to call mine "Redneck Chic". I cook a lot from scratch since the powers that be have put me on the minimum sodium thingy. I have been eating a lot of venison lately since I did manage to put two in the freezer this year plus people give it to me since it's supposed to be fairly low in sodium, I usually fix traditional meals with it though like sphagetti sauce, soups, meatloaf and today tacos again. I cook a lot of fish and chicken since all thats supposed to be healthy. I can't wait for summer when all the fresh veggies are in season.
