Rude? Poor Taste? Bad Manners? How Would YOU Have Reacted?

I made an extra cheesecake last week when making 4 others for a co-worker's need.

I brought the five cheesecakes in, intending to offer the fifth to the department as a snack, however, another co-worker remarked on how she had her mother-in-law visiting and she would love to have a cheesecake to be able to serve at dinner- and to keep leftovers around for snacking throughout the MIL's visit.

So, being the sweetheart that I am- I gave the cheesecake to this co-worker, at no charge. (Keep in mind, I didn't have enough disposable plastic cake domes to present this fifth cheesecake in, so I brought it in, still in the springform pan that I baked it in).

Well, here it is a week later and imagine my surprise to discover that co-worker had returned my springform pan to me in a plastic bag, UNWASHED.

What did I do? Since we didn't see one another today (on weekends, we work opposite shifts, and I now will not see her again until Wednesday) I simply placed the bagged dirty pan back on her desk w/ a note attached that read: "I'm in no hurry for this pan back, Alicia- I can wait until you get a chance to wash it."

What would you have done?

That was beyond rude on her part. Someone like that it is a wonder she brought your pan back at all.

I don't blame you for doing that - and I do hope she washes it and returns it. You may have to sterilize it thoroughly when she returns it - sounds like a very rotten person that cannot be trusted!

long story short - ("closed" baked goods sale) - witch purchases (it was all donations for something) cheesecake made by member (one of the rules was to return any baking pans that were to be returned)

takes cheesecake outside and DUMPS it on the ground - returns pan to who made it

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(without getting into the whole story........here's "the end"):
upset members ban together - one purchases gooey chocolate cake made by witch - smashed it all over her windshield - another purchases her lemon filled cream cheese frosted lemon cake - does her back window and driver door handle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

there's always ONE to prove how low-down and rotten they can be

Kevin, I've dealt with people like her all my life. I'm willing to bet good money that she'll get her nose out of joint about how rude you were.

Unfortunately, when God made them that self-centered there's just not much you can do. It's a no-win situation.

Frankly, I'm surprised you didn't have to chase the springform over the next few months, with one excuse after another about why she didn't bring it back.

I have no idea what I would do because I think I would shocked speachless but I think you did the right thing. Someone needs to let her know this is unacceptable behaivor.

This is a case of more than just the rudeness of the person you gave the cheese cake to. There was also the mother in law and the woman"s husband, obviously. Unless of course the woman kept the cheese cake in her car and ate it herself while riding to and from work. That would explain the just bringing the dirty pan back inside with her when she was done with it.

A Dirty pan :eek:That was so Rude, you are so right!! If I were you I would just Never Bake anything for her ever again and tell her why and how you felt. She should have returned your pan Washed and at least a Thank You note. Maybe she really did eat the whole thing in her car and didn't share:D
Cookie :)
