We need rain

We have not had a good rain here in about three weeks. My father in law has been watering his garden with the water hose to get by. I was really hoping it would rain last night since there was a 50 percent chance but it never did. They are forcasting a 70 percent chance of rain for Saturday.

Has anyone else put out a garden yet? My father in law plants by the farmers almanac signs. Yesterday he put out all of my herb seeds and zucchini. He has potatoes poking through the soil already. It frosted a couple of times last week hard. He covered his grapes and my rosemary but it did some damage on his fruit trees.

waaaaaay to soon for us to plant! cripe - we had snow and ice balls for 2 days last week!

we are expecting rain at the end of this week - but who knows? our weather as been strange the past couple years -

Yes it is early here but everyone is chomping at the bits to get them in the ground.
It will take a couple of weeks for my herbs to come through the ground so I hope all of the frosts are done by then.

Well we are no longer in need of rain. Roads and schools are closed for tomorrow because of flooding. It is still pouring and will the rest of the night. 30% chance of rain tomorrow so it should finally stop.

Stay dry, Janie! And keep an eye out- in case u and Jon hafta head for the hills!

I am not a gardener- though I wish to be! But I recall in our area folks rarely ever planted much until Mother's Day weekend- which is coming-up on us soon!

We've gotten more rain this year than usual. I hope things improve for you

Sadly we won't be having a garden this year. Our dog is just not getting the message about staying out of certain areas. I could fence it off but honestly the cost of fencing off the area doesn't justify the small savings I would get by having our own vegetables. Normally this wouldn't even be an issue, but financially the pat 4 months have been a disaster and every bit of money is allocated to other more pressing needs :(

I've put out six tomato plants and probably have room for a few more. Will see if I want to dig up a little more ground after this promise of rain gets over with.

This county has been declared a disaster area and there is a state of emergency. Schools are still closed.

How's it going Janie?

I hope all is well there!

We're getting downpours and we have thunder and lightening - all in spurts. We get sun and it looks nice, 15 minutes later it's horrid, then the sun comes out, etc. Strange!

Jon and I are fine. Thank you guys for asking.
We live in an upstairs apartment on the main road right in town. It never flooded right in Grayson but another city in Carter County called Olive Hill is flooded even in the town from what I have heard. Their post office flooded so they were giving out their mail at our post office today and yesterday. I heard a post office employee tell someone today they would be handing out mail at the National Guard Armory there tomorrow. One woman in line from Olive Hill this morning was crying saying she had lost everything. She was wearing her pajamas. It flooded badly in Grayson but it was mostly in the outskirts of town. So far they plan to have school back in session tomorrow.
The water got close to some of our familys homes but thankfully none got inside or close enough to hurt their cars. Jon's Dad had to dig a drainage ditch to drain the water from his garden to try and save it. My sis and her family had the driveway flooded and no school but nothing in their home. Same with my brother.

I am going to my father in laws tomorrow to see if all of my little tiny herbs that were up washed away.

We are doing great. Thank you guys for asking. They are still cleaning up in many areas around here. We got some heavy rain yesterday but it didnt last for long.

It is supposed to frost tonight. I hope by some miracle it doesnt.
