What Are You Cooking For Christmas Dinner?

I will be doing a small ham with a few sides and dessert for this Sunday dinner with my husband's Dad. Jon and I are having a couple of cornish game hens for Christmas dinner. I will probably just make potatoes and a caesar salad for sides with our dinner. I have a beef roast to make on Christmas Eve. I am thinking of making a parm risotto to have with the roast and popovers. The leftover risotto will be great to make fried rice balls later. Jon requested orange cake for dessert.

if this weather keeps up and we are snowed in - macaroni! I do have my roast beef in the freezer as well - that is for Christmas - but if it's just the two of us - I'm not cooking up a storm - but I will make a nice meal - this weather is killing me!!!

I remember back in late fall they had a man on tv who said we were going to have a very warm and rain soaked winter. Boy was he ever wrong. Our weather is a piece of cake compared to what you suffer with.

I have my fingers crossed for you Hon!

Since we live close to the police department on a main road in town they always get ours back on pretty quick when it goes out.

one year I spent 2 days in the basement bailing water from the sump pump - not to have water in the basement when the power went out - I did it - no water in the basement - but it almost killed me

well - with all this snow - when it warms - the floods will start - and if we get a good storm at the same time and lose power - that is what you do not to have the water overflow from the sump pump and wet the basement - never had water - never will - even if it kills me

We don't have to cook Christmas. We're invited to my daughters Christmas day to watch my grandson have his Christmas and let her husband do the cooking.

How old is your grandson?

Jon's Daddy finally decided 100% to do pizza for Christmas. Ill make a dessert to take. We will have our Christmas dinner with him on Sunday. He found out his exwife was planning her holiday dinner with them for the same week so he said no one would want two big dinners that close together.
I am making a small 9 pound ham, sweet taters, mac and cheese, krab salad, bbq bacon wrapped mushrooms, coleslaw,
garlic mashed taters & yeast rolls for Sunday supper/Christmas dinner. Lemon pop cake for dessert.

He's a year and a half. Was born in June of '09. Our granddaughter should really be a hoot. She's three. We'll probably see her on the following Monday.

They are a lot of fun at that age. One of my nieces is three and she is quiet the character. If I pick at her on the phone she tells me she will tell her Daddy on me. I tell her that her Daddy takes a baby bottle. She got so mad at me once she growled at me lol. She has red hair with the temper to match but she doesnt stay mad for long.

I have a 4 bone dry aged rib roast ordered and
it was just going to be the two of us - then got
invited to friends so I upped the roast size to 7 bones
and will take that. The hostess is making a Yorkshire
Pudding and smashed turnips. Not sure what the other
sides are. I'll make a French apple pie to take as well.

I have lutefisk and makings for a tourtiere but not sure
when I'll get all that in.

Got two Christmas dinners done today. Sunday supper/Christmas dinner with my father in law. It was just the three of us. He is doing pizza for Christmas Eve and Im making a couple of desserts. Went to my mother in laws at 5 this evening for her Christmas dinner so that is done now. Any cooking I have to do is pure pleasure at this point.

I have 3 full size standing rib roasts; about 15-17 lbs each. I am cooking two in the oven and smoking the third. We expect between 40-50 people here so making that much Roast Beast is going to be a challenge! I am also making a big pot of NE clam chowder. I am going to make a big pot of mustard greens too. Our Xmas party involves everyone bringing a dish so that is all I am making basically.

Kinda excited! :p

Being the only single guy in my group at work, I always volunteer to work the holidays in my company's 24/7 department, so co-workers can be at home w/ their spouses and kids. Last night we did our gift exchange w/ Mom at my sister's house. Many great presents and Karla made lasagna- I took pies and a rum cake and we watched a movie and played board games. Thursday night my sister and her family will bring our Dad to my place. We'll have appetizers and order pizza delivery and have our gift exchange w/ Dad. Then Friday I'll meet visiting out of town friends at Avanti's for Italian feasting- and Saturday I work a double-shift! Merry Christmas everyone! :)

Merry Christmas Guys!

I took sugar cookies, banana bread & peanut butter fudge to my father in laws for tomorrow. I am going to make a fruit tray but not til right before we leave for his place.
I stopped by the little store here in town to get a couple of things I forgot and it was a madhouse! I got lucky and made it first in line right as they opened a new one. Otherwise I would have been in there for hours.
