I thought that I'd post this here to try to get some input on on the thoughts of the Food Network, its shows and stars.

What do you think of the network? How do you like the shows? What is your observation about the cooking stars who have their own shows there?

Hi BigD,

My fav food personalities are as follows: from "the old days" Julia Child, James Beard, Edna Lewis and Alice Waters.

From today: Martha S., Lidia & Ina.

My fav non-celeb cookbook authors are: Lee Bailey, Chirtopher Idone, Marcella Hazan, Deborah Madison, Andre V., James Peterson, Thomas Keller, Charlie Trotter, Patricia Quintana...

My fav Hollywood/Music/Celeb cookbooks include those written by: Patty LaBelle, Trisha Yearwood, Mo'Nique, Linda McCartney, Sophia Loren, Maya Angelou...

Hi!

I like most of them. some have their little diappointments though.

Even the newest guy Aaron McCargo Jr., host of Big Daddy's House! I like the guy a lot, but who in their right mind would kiss a raw steak?! Other than that, he's very good.

Ha, BigD!

Kiss a raw steak?

I just changed my avatar to a new one of me reading to my nephew's class-room...

But in honor of you- tomorrow I''l post another avatar of me kissing a live, just-caught Alaskan King Salmon!

ugggggh ! Kev ! never would my lips touch a fish !

Well...I guess Paula Dean is my favorite one considering she's a Southern Belle such as I. I can't stand Rachael Ray ....for some reason she rubs me the wrong way.I don't watch TV at all now...we had Dish but the selections sucked so we turned it off.I got tired of flipping channels and finding nothing to watch.

Not to mention the fact that I saw him on one of his new shows cook ribs in an oven by covering the casserole dish he was cooking them in with plastic wrap, then tin foil, and then putting them in at 400 degrees.

I turn the Food Network on when I get up in the morning.
I like some and some not so much. It doesnt take you long when you get into authentic Italian food to figure out Giada is def not an authentic Italian chef.
Rachel Ray is just so over its pathetic. All of her recipes these days sound like the million she has done before.
I still enjoy Paula Deen.
I had one of Ellie Krieger's books and gave it away.
The woman from the Neely's gets on my last nerve. I just want her to shut up. I hate Road Tasted now that they are the hosts.
I wish A. McCargo best of luck with the show but I did not find him enjoyable to watch at all.
I like to watch Jamie At Home.
I do not like Grill it or Boy Meets Grill.
I like Iron Chef and Cooking For Real. Hate How Did That Get on my Plate.
I like Ask Aida and Secrets Of A Restaurant Chef. I like Nigella Lawson. Really like Ina Garden. Not a big fan of Tyler Florence.
In a FN show I want recipes that are approachable to the home cook and a host who is enjoyable to watch or atleast tolerable. Im curious to see Giada's new show slated to air in Oct. I think they said its going to be called Giada At Home.

Yeah, if you catch the ad real quick it shows him doing that.

I used to taste raw hamburg after mixing it up with other ingredients for meat loaf to see if it had enough seasonings, but now I don't.

I was hoping they would ask John Besh to host Dinner Impossible. They went with that Michael Symon guy instead.

I dont care for Symon. John Besh was a better chef and should have won that Next Iron Chef thing.

It's usually and almost often that the ones you DON'T want to win end up winning anyway.

I was reading on alot of sites people have dubbed McCargo "Marble Mouth" because of the way he speaks.

Never seen his show- and don't know how his voice sounds- but he sure is pretty to look at! He reminds me of 'Turk' on "Scrubs"! (winks!)

My favorite is Iron Chef the original guys, I absolutely loved them, I can take or leave the show now that it's American Iron Chef. Alot of the shows Janie mentioned I have never seen or watched, so I can not say.

We watched Iron Chef last night w/ Morimoto and Sanchez and it was a tie (I liked that!!!) and I saw my 1st commercial for Big Daddy I want to warch it he looks upbeat, I can not believe he stuck saran wrap on something going into the oven -how funny a real Blooper:D

I loved the ones of Rachael Ray doing her trips all over the world and trying to spend just so much $$$ that was good entertainment, but it got old seeing her all the time, I guess if ya' aint in love, seeing the same old face and hearing the same ole' voice over & over again just gets old! But I think she as a person is adorible and cute, I even have my 8 yr. old repeating those adverbs when she watches her she'll say "Mom, isn't she adorible?" to which I say "Oh yes, and so cheerful, and bubbly!" and we both agree on that!

But to be really honest I watch very little TV as I get in bed like at 9 pm and don't roll in from work til like 6:15 pm and to be really honest I despise TV for the most part it is all CRAP! I went for 1 1/2 yrs with no TV, and if not for Eddie we'd not have it now, it is a huge waste of time. In the mornings I am cooking b'fast for the little one and getting her off to school, afterwards watering the garden, feeding the chickens, many morn's preping the evening meal, and just find that if I were to sit down and watch TV I would vegatate and have nothing accomplished. I would much rather read and stay busy!!!! And there is NOTHING BETTER than being out doors early in the morning breathing fresh air and watching life! This morning I got the biggest kick just watching the bumble bees pollinating the squash blossoms and the eggplant blossoms:) that does my heart good, because 1st of all they are there, 2nd there are no honey bees to be seen so I am grateful for at least to have these bumble bees, and there is peace and treanquility in the garden!!! You'll never find that on TV. And I never tire of watching my garden grow:D

He DOES talk a lot. Reminds me of the boy at school who I tutor. He LOVES to talk immensely!! He's very happy when he's with me!

Aaron has opened up a lot since he was a contestant on NFNS. I remember him as being the very shy type afraid to express his true feelings. This is what Bob, Bobby and Suzie were trying to get him to do.

Now he's like a wild tigar let loose from his cage and is loving every minute of it!!;)
