Whimpering.....

I guess I will be the first.....a kitchen disaster of sorts on this Thanksgiving Day.

I was making a large batch of brown rice, much of which I was planning to freeze in serving size FoodSaver Bags, as long as I was making it, and the rest to be used as part of dinner. Sitting on the counter cooling down a little and being fluffed, I reached in to the cupboard to grab something which also started to fall. I grabbed it but also banged against the rice bowl and tried to grab that too.

I was not successful. The bowl went to the floor, hit on its base, and shot hot rice flying like out of a gun.....everywhere. Raw rice would have been bad enough, but cooked rice was sticking to everything and could not be swept up.

Whimpering, I had to take a break from the kitchen. :(

My turn now. I was excited to try Janie's yeast rolls. Our bread machine decided to not only mix the dough but start cooking it too....................we had a yeast loaf

Can Man -

Sorry to hear you had to go through all that. And on of all days - today.

I hope you can put a smile on your face in spite of it all. SMILE! Make everyone wonder just what the heck you've been up to!

Rick -

I have the perfect solution - cut the loaf into roll size pieces and pretend they are rolls. Heck it all tastes the same!

Oh my gosh CanMan you gotta be kiddin!!! I feel for you man, I'd of been cursing like a sailor  One night not too long ago I dropped an entire Tomato and Zuccini dish I had made and it went everywhere and all that cooked tomato (messy messy messy) & had olive oil in it and a ton of melted cheddar on it, and I was steamin' mad! And to make matters worse it broke my very expensive container I had it in:mad:

Well > Rick all I can say is you could've gotten into the Guiness World Record for the world's Largest Yeast Roll hee-hee :D

Yah, it kind of broke my spirit for the rest of the afternoon/evening. Dinner was turned in to a sandwich with some homemade Sherry Mustard and was enjoyed with a glass (or 2 or?) of $1.99/bottle wine from Trader Joes. I'm still sampling that wine, a Merlot.

Hey I am going to go pop the top on a bottle and have me a nice glass of wine with you!

Cheers CanMan, and on your next holiday here's to nary a drop of water falling where it should not!

I made it through the day without any mishaps. Normally I have atleast one disaster or three lol. Must be saving them up for when I do Christmas cooking. Year before last I babysat my sis's little one who was 4 at the time. She wanted to make soup and cupcakes so I prepped everything the night before. I cut my hand really bad chopping veg for the soup. So far I havent cut myself since. That was a bad one and just from me being careless.

I wish I liked the flavor of wine. I can tolerate it in some dishes but could never drink it straight. To me white wine is more tolerable than red. To me it all smells and tastes like really bad cough syrup. bleh
