If you don't want skin in your finished product, then you should peel them before cooking.

I usually don't bother; the skins don't hurt anything and add interesting texture actually.

Since we rarely use I guess you could call them brown potatos unless it is for potato salad then yes I peel them. However, we usually eat alot of red potatoes so I don't peel them. Even in mashed potatoes it tastes god with the skin on. My kids even will eat them. I hear that the skin carries alot of vitamins in them not sure if it is true or not.

I believe so too. It is in the potatoes' skin where the vitamins are. Potatoes are starch and minerals without it. I think it's the same with apple--skin = vitamins. I like eating apples' skin. Sometimes I eat that only.

Thanks for sharing the video simcooks. I couldn't understand a word they were saying, but I definately understood the video.
I usually peel my potatoes when I am making mashed potatoes, but boil them with the skins on when I am making potato salad.

I used to peel them, but now that I know that gets rid of many of the nutrients (makes perfect sense now that I think about it), I think I'll leave the peel on.

I almost always peel them but it really is a painful task, I must say, especially when you are cooking for lot of people.
I have heard some people rather scrub their potatoes. I wonder how useful it is and what exactly can be used to scrub potatoes.

you can use a vegetable scrubber on potatoes, or even one of those dish scrubbers (the kind that don't "crumble" apart & leave bits & pieces). Just be sure you ONLY use them for veggies. And rinse the veggies well after scrubbing and before cooking.

I mostly use a vegetable scrubber to scrub them under running water.
Sometimes, I refer boiling them and then peeling them. It makes the task a lot easier that way.

Most of the times I peel the potatoes. When I am making whole jacket potatoes
I leave the peel on after washing it well. I like potatoes without the peel.

Nice video simcooks. I didn't understand what they're saying but I know how to peel the skin now!

I don't like the texture of the skin so I always peel it.
