Did you know that it takes more wild caught salmon to produce farm raised salmon then are produced by the salmon farm?
That seems to me to be absolutely crazy. According to the Monterey Bay Aquarium the best choice for Salmon is Alaskan Wild Caught Sockeye and you should avoid any farm raised salmon because of the first sentence. You can find the complete Seafood Watch Guide at Monterey Bay Aquarium: Home Page and here is the specific link to Sustainable Salmon. They also have a printable seafood watch pocket guide you can print for your region and use for making proper seafood choices at the grocers and restaurants you visit. |
