Fennel is very easy to grow in the garden-I bought a small plant at the nursery and it grew to be HUGE------in addition to being a food source for certain butterfly larvae (I think the giant swallowtails like it) it's the best thing for indigestion, gas and bloating. I just would wash it and eat it raw--freshens your breath as well. Of course you could also steep it in some hot water to make a tea and drink that for your indigestion. And of course it great for cooking----I've got several recipes where you cook fish over a bed of it.

I'm still trying to remember to buy fennel to try it out. All of you make this vegetable sound so good. I've seen it in the store. But I've been forgetting to buy it during my last few visits to the grocer. The while stalks remind me of one of my favorite vegetables -- Swiss Chard.

Yeah, if you like it and have garden space, give it a whirl---I bought a 4 inch plant from the nurserly and it really took off---it's not cheap in our area stores.

I've never heard of fennel, but maybe I'll buy it, try it out. I definately couldn't grow it, I'm pretty sure for that you need to have a garden (which I don't).

I made a recipe with fennel the other night and it was so good! I highly recommend trying it - it added a great flavor to my roast chicken dish.
