I love to shop at the farmer's markets! We have several here and I am not far from our local farms and we can go there for anything we need. And I still enjoy picking my own, strawberries, berries, cherries, apples, plums, peaches, tomatoes, etc. Did the "dig up the potatoes" once - won't do that again - too dirty!!

When I was a kid we used to go to a large farmer's market every couple of weeks. I remember one time someone had sugar cane and we bought a whole stalk (or whatever it is called). We cut pieces off and snacked on them. That was kind of fun - the only time I have eaten sugar cane.

sometimes at our farmer's market (wednesdays and saturdays), they have a guy making fresh corn meal. It takes this enormous noisy machine that they jam corn into and it pounds it into dust and, pow, corn meal.
also a great place for jams and jellies. |
