Mama Mangia

Super Moderator
1 pound ground country ham
1/2 pound pork sausage
1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
cup milk
1 egg

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Roll into bite-size balls and place on a shallow baking sheet.

Bake approximately 30 minutes, until cooked through and nicely browned, turning once.

Makes about 5 dozen 1-inch balls.

Sauce for ham balls
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in a scant 1/4 cup water

Place sugar, vinegar, water and mustard in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl and add 1 tablespoon at a time until sauce is thickened to your tastes, stirring constantly. Use as dipping sauce.
