Ingredients:

2 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 C water
1 C sugar
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
dash nutmeg
2 tbls. cornstarch
2 tbls. cold water
6 puff pastry shells, thawed to room temperature
all-purpose flour

Glaze:

1 C powdered sugar
milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla or almond flavoring

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Place apples, water, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in a saucepan over medium heat. Simmer uncovered until apples are tender. Mix cornstarch with water and add to apple mixture. Stir gently until thick and bubbly, being careful not to break up apple slices. Remove from heat. Place thawed pastry shells on a floured surface. Roll out each into a 6-inch square. Place on two ungreased cookie sheets. Divide filling among pastry shells, spooning filling into center of each shell and leaving a 1/2-inch margin around outside of shell. Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly browned and puffy. Cool sliightly. Mix powdered sugar with enough milk to make a thin glaze. Add vanilla or almond flavoring. Drizzle over pastries. Serve warm. These are so simple to make and delicious to eat with a nice hot cup of coffee or tea. Enjoy! :)
