Default Almond Sour Cream White Cake

    Almond Sour Cream White Cake

This recipe makes one 12x8 sheet
cake, or one 12" round and one 8" rounds.

2 boxes (18 oz. each) white cake mix
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    2 cups sugar
    1 1/2 tsp salt
    2 2/3 cups water
    1/4 cup veg. oil
    2 tsp vanilla
    2 tsp almond extract
    2 cups sour cream
8 large egg whites, at room temperature

Place all dry ingredients in a large bowl and whisk
with a wire whisk. Add the remaining ingredients
and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
Pour into greased, floured, and parchment-paper
lined pans, filling a little more than half-full.
Lightly tap pans to get any air bubbles out.
Wrap your Bake-Even strips around the pans.
Bake in preheated 325 degree oven until cake
tests done. My 10" layer took EXACTLY 30
minutes in my oven. But start testing at 20
    minutes, and go from there.

This recipe sounds delicious, I almost always choose to make any recipe that has almond extract ... because it gives it that "special" flavor ~ MsMai have you made this? Did you make a frosting / icing / topping for this cake? This looks great ~ I am wondering if you just sprinkled powdered sugar on top.

I have a sour cream coconut icing recipe that I have used. And a large container of Cool Whip works beautifully as an icing. Add a shell border on the top and bottom then a few white chocolate curls on top (you can use a white chocolate candy bar for this, just make sure it is cool enough to shave, and you have a very elegant cake with little effort

I see that you are new here. It is so nice to meet you and I hope you post some of your favorite recipes too.

I have posted several recipes, soups, a side, and desserts ~ I hope you like them, but I know I'll like this and your spinach and Asiago cheese scallops

Default Gooooooood morning, Chubbs. Good to see you here. How are you?

this cake is so worth making. I forgot to add that you should add 1 teaspoon of almond flavoring to that CoolWhip
