Default Any Pet Lovers in the Group ?

I was just wondering ....after talking to my best friend today how some people go to extremes on certain things. My friend Elita...has two ****z Zu's ( not sure how to spell it ) She does not have kids and these dogs are her babies. She cooks special food for them . Refuses to buy any kind of dog food for them. She was telling me how one of them will only eat Chicken. She gives them all kind of vitimines and stuff so I guess it is healthy enough.
Just seems a bit extreme to me......I love my furbabies...got 4 myself...but I don't cook for them...

By the way...had to take one of them to vet hospital last night. She cut her leg really bad ...go back today and pick her up.

Anyone else out there cook for their Furbabies ?

Default Only The Best!!!

YOU BETCHA I COOKED FOR MY ZEKE FOR WELL OVER YEAR, ONLY HOMEMADE DOGFOOD FOR HEALTH REASONS AND BECAUSE OF THE PET FOOD RECALL!!! IT IS A VERY SPECIAL FOOD THAT IS ONLY FOR YOUR DOG AND NO ADDED HUMAN FOOD IN THEIR DIET. MY LITTLE DOG THRIVED!!! I WILL PULL UP MY DOG FOOD RECIPE AND POST TO IT SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT IT SAYS.

I AM NO EXTREMIST JUST A WOMAN WHO WOULD NOT KNOWINGLY ALLOW CRAP INTO MY "FAMILIES" DIET AND MY DOG IS ALSO PART OF THE FAMILY. PLUS CRAP FROM CHINA CAN BE DEADLY AS WE WELL KNOW!!! THEY'VE EVEN POISIONED THEIR OWN BABIES WITH CRAP BABY FORMULA OF LATE.

I TRUST PURINA FOODS AND NOW HAVE HIM ON A PURINA PRODUCT AND HE HAS DONE WELL ON IT.

Here's MY FAVORITE HOMEMADE DOG FOOD RECIPE:

8 C. BROWN RICE
1 C. PASTA
25 C. WATER
2-3 LBS. FROZEN MEAT (BEEF, LAMB, OR CHICKEN)
2 CUPS VEGGIES (PEAS, CARROTS, SQUASH, BROCCOLI, CELERY, APPLES, BLUEBERRIES)
1 C. OATMEAL
1/2 C. CANOLA OIL
1/2 C. BUTTERMILK POWDER
3 EGGS
1/4 C. HEALTH SUPPLEMENT (RECIPE BELOW)

USING A LARGE DUTCH OVEN; BRING WATER WITH FROZEN MEAT TO A BOIL, ADD BROWN RICE LET SIMMER 25 MIN'S. REMOVE MEAT, COOL AND CHOP FINE; I USE MY BLENDER AND PULSE UNTIL MEAT IS CONSISTENCY OF BABY FOOD. RETURN MEAT TO POT, AT THIS TIME ADD TOTAL REMINING INGREDIENTS, EXCEPT THE HEALTH FOOD SUPPLEMENT. COOK JUST UNTIL PASTA IS DONE. I ALSO USE MY EGGS WITH THE SHELL AND ALL, I JUST PUT THEM IN THE BLENDER AND BLEND UNTIL FROTHY BEFORE ADDING TO THE POT.

ALLOW TO COOL A LITTLE WHILE, STIR IN HEALTH FOOD SUPPLEMENT AND MIX WELL. THEN PUT INTO FREEZER CONTAINERS AND FREEZE.

***NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT***
(THESE INGREDIENTS CAN BE FOUND AT A HEALTH FOOD STORE)

2 C. NUTRITIONAL YEAST (***NOT FLEISHMAN'S BAKING TYPE***)
1 C. SOY LECITIN GRANULES
1/4 C. HUMAN GRADE BONE MEAL
1/4 C. DRIED KELP
1/4 C. DRIED PARSLEY
1/4 C. FLAX SEED

MIX TOGETHER ALL INGREDIENTS AND KEEP STORED IN A COVERED CONTAINER IN THE REFRIGERATOR. ADD 1/4 C. TO EVERY BATCH OF DOG FOOD YOU MAKE.

FEED 1 CUP PER EVERY 10 LB BODY WEIGHT A DAY.

DO NOT FEED ONION, GARLIC, CHOCOLATE, AVACADO'S OR SUGAR TO DOGS

I have a small maltese/yorkie mix whose name is Pooh. He weighs about 5-6 pounds.
I dont cook for him. He has a favorite dog food that he has eaten since I brought him home when he was 6 weeks old. He will be 10 years old this Jan 5. Pooh is starting to get some back problems and arthritis. I have to watch letting him jump around or wrestling with Jon much. The vet had told us yorkies are prone to back problems when they get older.

I had a bunny for almost 5 years. I spent alot of money on the best food, hay, treats and veggies for my bunny Baron. When he died a few months ago I took him and buried him close to Jon's Dads garden. Jons Dad was talking about his kale disappearing from the garden. I told him maybe Baron is haunting the garden..kale was his favorite thing in the world lol.

lol..I would never call you an extremist Sis Cath...lol..but my friend is and she knows it ! She quit her job because she could not leave then home alone. She was in Kansas with her Hubby when one of her furbabies died recently and she drove straight through to bring it home to Ms to bury him in her yard. She buys jewelry for her famale furbaby.....that dog has more diamonds that I do! They have their own bedroom in the house decorated in doggy style.
She knows I love her though and her dogs !
