Default Our First Frost

We got our first frost last night. My basil is black and crispy. The sage, thyme, parsley and rosemary are still hanging in there. It got cold alot earlier this year than it has the past few years. It is supposed to be down to 30-35 again tonight. At this rate the kids are def going to have to wear warm clothes under their costumes when they trick or treat.

It hasn't gotten down to the 30's here yet but a few days ago it was 40...hanging in the 40's at night and in the high 70's during the day. I really dislike winter and dreading it this year.My garden has been long gone.

Our first frost was Saturday. I had to bring all my remaining tomatoes and peppers in. Now I have a folding table set up and laid across with green tomatoes. I keep them like that every year in the basement by the window. They just keep ripening and we have fresh tomatoes through most of November.

Our's too was Sunday night. We carved our jack-o-lanterns way too early this year, 'cause our family weenie-roast had to be held a bit sooner this year due to a trip outta town my Dad is taking. The pumpkins are now soft and beginning the slow stages of withering... soon they'll be a caved-in mess!

Upstate NY, north of Utica. Trust me, I hope it doesn't do that again until Xmas.

It's been hailing and storming for 2 days - lake effect is coming - and that is what we dread - it kills us! Dang snowbelt!
