    Default Fav TV Kitchens

Okay... time for a weird question for us all to ponder...

When I was a kid we always watched "The Waltons" and I remember really liking their kitchen with it's rustic long wooden table, it's homey vintage 30's appliances, and the fact that someone- either mama, or gramma- always seemed to be at work peeling apples to bake pies, or some such. I also like the ultra-sleek, modern kitchen in "Fraisier". What kitchens from TV Shows do you like?

Star Trek the next generation! As much as I love to cook sometimes it would be nice to say I want Peking duck and it just appears!

Well let's see....I do not really notice the kitchens very much on shows like Frazier, now I will give it a little more attention.

But I love old retro style kitchens from the 60's era, and as you mentioned The Waltons. I love all the kitchens on HGTV

I always liked Wimpy's car on Popeye. He would push a button and a hamburger would pop out.

I build kitchens for a living. To be honest, most of these ultra fancy modern kitchens go into homes and the people getting them don't even cook.
It's a shame. To see the beautiful commercial type equipment that goes in and to know that it is just for show. I wish I could afford what I install.
The last kitchen I installed, I had just finished installing a nice Viking range and blower unit over it. The homeowners sister came for a visit. The sister turned and said to the other, " Does this mean your finally going to learn how to cook". The visiting sister was so angry, lol.

I always liked the kitchen in the last episodes of Everyday Italian on the FN. I loved the white cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling and there was tons of work surfaces. Ina Garten's kitchen is lovely also. I hate the kitchen she has in Giada at Home. The design and colors are ugly to me. It has that redish brown color on everything that I hate and a very modern design. The set Rachael Ray cooks on is such an eye sore. I know orange is her favorite color but who ever picked out that set was crazy lol.

I believe it Ironic Chef! I like the show take home chef but when you get into some of those gorgeous houses with the amazing kitchens and even out door kitchens around a beautiful pool it just makes me sick. None of those people can ever cook! You get the woman wearing an inch of make up dressed like one of the wives of orange county in sort tight everything and they hold a spatula like it might bite them. I hope it does!

I too like Guida's (in Everyday Italian), Ina Gartens' and that Nigella Lawson's (although she can use a bigger counter).

janie, I also like Ina's kitchen. I haven't seen her show recently, but I heard she no longer uses her actual home kitchen. She had a new kitchen-set built in a huge BARN on her and Jeffery's pproperty. I can't wait to see it! Also- Rachel? I do not like her current kitchen (hate the dark brick and dark/dismal/dreary dated cottage look) BUT I did like her retro kitchen on "30 Minute Meals" a lot.

Speaking of real home kitchens, it appears that Paula Deene, Rick Bayless and Lidia also use their real home kitchens- as did Julia.

I have seen every episode of Ina's new show Back to Basics and it looks like it is in her same kitchen. It may be in the barn and just look similar. I love the new show. Im going to have to order her new cookbook. I would love to see John Besh get his own show on FN.
