Default During this hottest part of the summer

how do you fill your days?

I seem to spend more time indoors in the AC and so I find that I spend lots of time cooking and whipping up some of my favorite time intensive dishes. Time well spent that's for sure!

No A/C in my home unfortunately and most of my days are standing over a stove doing my 'canning' since the hot weather is why I have lots of fruits and vegetables getting ripe and not willing to wait for cooler times.

I do have to refrain from bending over my work since that would inadvertently add salt to my canned food. Had to laugh when I saw an episode of Hell's Kitchen where complaints were coming in because food was salty. Seems the chef was sweating into the food.

In LA how has the heat been? I remember my couple of yrs. spent in Long Beach, we had no A/C and really did not need it as I recall, we did use a fan but it was never too awful hot!

Hee-hee reading that about the salt could just about break me from my salt habit!!!

The coast is always cooler, but even they were in the 80's. Every place else was getting in to triple digits but the weather pattern has now changed and it is slowly cooling off to the normal 70's-80's.

It had been in the upper 90's the past three days here with high humidity.
My ac in the car is still out so we have been trying not to get out much or atleast do it early in the day. I cannot do alot of cooking and zero baking through the day when it is hot cause the stove is about 4-5 feet from the ac intake and the heat will cause the ac to ice up. I would love to see it cool off!

Yes CanMan the nice temp.'s are a real bonus for those who live on the coast of Cali. I remember Monterey as being even more temperate, goodness it was wonderful indeed!!!

Janie I watched the Weather Channel and this record heat is supposed to losse a little umph tomorrow, during the hottest part of the day it will be 10 degrees cooler than today's high!!! Yee-haw I like that.

I have been very greatful for some of the mildest temp's I can remember in years here this summer, we actually had some days that were just miraculously cool for July!

I am a wimp when it comes to the heat. I can't take it lol. I do ok when it is in the 80's but the 90's are to much for me.
Around here if you say something about cooler temps people freak out saying swine flu is going to kill us all when the weather cools off.

We have had about 4-5 hot days here this year so I can't give you anything but anecdotal stories.
