I love a good Hardees burger about once a month. There is a chinese restaurant a few counties over that has fantastic sushi I love. The only time I ever got sick from eating out was once when Jon and I went to KFC several years ago. They had just changed over to a new oil and the chicken was so greasy it made us both sick. Havent been back since.
I once got sick from food another time- but the food wasn't "bad" per se... it was just the combination of the two foods: KFC fried chicken and a really ripe and fragrant honeydew melon. Both woulda been perfectly delicious independently on their own. But I had them in a single bag together and when I opened the bag and ate some of each- WOW. The weird way both items had adversely interacted w/ the other was awful! A bit of spicy grease- with the heady perfume of the super-ripe melon- EEEKKK!
I never eat from a buffet. Especially those places like Pizza Hut, Harvester or Brewsters.
Well unless it is just my family, I trust them to wash their hand well. I have seen to many people go to the toilet and not bother to wash their hands after the loo. Then their handling the food, I don't mind a carvery where we are served by a member of the catering staff, at least then I know that I have less of a chance that my food has not been mauled buy stinking filthy people with sewerage all over their hands.
I think people should be made to use an ultra violet light before visiting the buffet table. If they want to eat their own excrement then up to them, but I don’t.
I'm not a finick as I am a weathered camper, I do not believe a kitchen can not be a totally clean environment (lol) but there is a different between natural dirt and poor hygiene.

My son was in America for a month 4 years ago. He said that there was no comparison between our Mac Donalds, Kentucy Fried Chicken, or Burger King.
It was fresh, more of it, and hot. Unlike the substandard cousins here.
He was amazed by the sandwiches. If you order a sandwich in my country you get two slices of bread and a filling, no garnish, that's it.
I wonder why it is different in other countries?
And we think ours is bad here!
A burger without the fixings???? That ain't right.
My friend was a Rotary-exchange student in Quito, Ecuador in the early 80's and she told us in those days the only American joint they had in that huge South American city was a Burger King and that the straws were given out of their paper wrappers and were collected, washed and re-used. How whacko is THAT? Ha!![]()
