    Default Apple Cider

Growing up in apple country in Up State New York one of my favorite times of the year was harvesting season and right after the first frost. After that frost to me was what everyone had waited for, Just the right apples.
With the nip in the air came apple cider too. I loved apple cider. I could drink it all day. May have regretted it at times but it never stopped me from enjoying it. The taste of a mug of fresh apple cider cold is something I really crave today.

Back a few years ago we had a scare across the US with apple cider just like we did with other products like spinach, tomatoes, lettuce and peanut butter. To solve the problem, a law was passed to pasturize apple cider.

So much for the flavor of apple cider. Pasturization burned the flavor right out of it. It doesn't taste fresh anymore. It's like drinking murky apple juice.
It's like taking fresh orange juice and freezing it. It looses that fresh
taste and your taste buds just say blah.

One can't even pull up to the old press at the farm and buy fresh pressed cider any more legally.... What a shame.

That is ashamed IC, I wonder if you had a fruit and vegetable juicer if you could not make your own? I own one and have made fresh apple juice with it that is darn good, of-course you have to start with a good quality apple.

We went Apple Picking a few weekends ago and had a blast, I have never been in my life. But fortunately there are Orchards just North of us (Up where Ricksrealpitbbq lives by the way) we made a day of it. I will make it a point to go back every year now! We have had apples 100 ways and are now down to just 3 left
