Thread: Is there any part of cooking you don't like?

I agree with the cleaning the dishes part. Sometimes I prevent cooking meals that require a few dishes. Don't have a dishwasher anymore, so everything has to be washed by hand. Try my best to cook one part of the meal, put it in a container that I know will be used for leftovers later, then reuse that pan. I miss my dishwasher

Making Pico is worse. 3 Lbs tomatoes, 3 onions, 3 bell peppers then cilantro. Once you get it chopped you're done. You guys have any part you consider drudgery?
I hate unloading the dishwasher. I will do all the cooking and the clean up but once the dishwasher is turned on I'm done with it. Why can't those dishes put themselves away? Ungrateful things. Well that's what my husband is for. He unloads.

My friends and family hate one thing about me- I HATE dishwashers! In fact, I have almost always had one (they come with the homes I've bought)- but I use it to STORE STUFF IN! Working in commercial kitchens for ages, believe it or not, I learned to appreciate some "unwind" time standing at the dish-pit scrubbing an hour's worth of pots & pans after a stressful Sunday or holiday brunch! My argument w/ females who praise their dishwashers has always been "The dishwasher is a contraption that was invented by a MAN to make WOMEN think they were lessening their work-load- when in fact he was only prolonging it- and making it more difficult!" Few of them ever agree w/ me, though! My idea of dishwashers is that they turn an easy 10-minute job into an hour-and-a-half task, and that to me does not equate to favorable progress!

Actually, the modern dishwasher was invented by a woman!

Sounds like a gender war brewing here. I remember the Ducks they used in Hot Springs Ark (The amphibous six wheel trucks) for the tourist. The driver would announce that they have lasted since WWII because they were produce in wartime therefore driven entirely by men. After the men had their chuckles. He would add; then again there is the fact they were produced during wartime therefore BUILT entirely by women.

Not much I do not like doing in the kitchen, I guess I would have to venture at; peeling potatoes as my final answer!

You must be my long lost brother....................I hate dishwashers. I would rather wash dishes by hand.
