    Thanks buddies!

These spammers are all retarded anyway. They think that we actually read their posts! Let them post away - one click and they are history. And we don't have time for them anyway. So keep ignoring them - we will win.

    >>we're not reading it

the absolute nonsense lately posted rather clearly demonstrates the spammer - and it's probably one - what does the posting IP reveal? - is not reading their posts either. a quick gander shows incomplete html code, missing descriptors, missing terminators, they obviously don't realize the board messaging software is stripping out bits&pieces of their html code rendering it utter gibberish.

fo all the nonsense, there's rarely a url to be recognized - some are embedded three deep. the random jibberish is meant to be 'invisible' - it's there to confuse anti-spam software. one gets the same gibberish in spam email.

until the spammer's business model fails, it can't be 'won' - it's an automated spam posting operation and they don't look once, much less again. they got a board url their script can auto-join&post - it will not stop until the spammer chooses to. they do not return to read the 'you dirty spammer you' rants&raves - it's a complete waste of your time - but that sort of 'management' can throw ice cubes on real world new members. few wish to risk being so blasted. I submit the rants&raves are actually counter-productive.

about the only know way to keep that kind of spam off the board is for a moderator to "approve" new member posts before they appear.

The whacko part about the whole idea behind the business model is this is experienced at a dozen or more sites I have spent regular time at over the last few years and the sentiment at all of them by ALL of the members was extremely negative. I can't believe those who pull this krap can think for a moment that it's a successful method. Are they THAT totally out of touch? What a bunch of misfits.

    kev -

uhmmm, these spammers quite bluntly don't give a rat's-patoot about my, your or anyone's negative reactions. it's all about the money.

got a web site? you'll right regular gets offers to improve/increase your search engine results. welcome to the wonderful world of professional spammers. these guys are different from the newbie's who's just discovered the internet and wants everyone who cooks to come visit their earth&oven shattering blog. there's most often no inkling of 'cooking' in this kind of spam - a web crawler has id'd a site, by software version, where their autojoin&post scripts work - their accumulated 'target' list runs to the thousands. I've seen 'abandoned' sites that are nothing but 100% spam. site's active, no one is watching, virtually every post 'post abandonment' is spam.

the more often a url appears 'on the web' the 'more higher' it gets ranked. one example, there's many. all the jibberish is intentional - it 'conceals' the url to be spread far and wide. I rather suspect the html would work 100% spot on when posted to a newsgroup, for example.
