Good luck, Clara!!!!!! Having a baby is the most awesome changing experience in your life (good and bad and the bad times can be really challenging but the good times can make up for it) just be sure that this is really what you all want----no turning back once Mr. S meets Madame Egg.

They all move at their own rates----some people think that if babies walk early that means they are more intelligent-----Not TRUE!!!!!! My niece was walking at 6 months-----NO LIE and she is just as average as they come---smart but didn't have scores high enough (or basically didn't work hard enough) to get accepted into Texas A&M. My next door neighbor's son didn't really talk until he was nearly 2 years old---they were so worried and he talks up storm at age 6 and is doing very well in school. Be glad that you have a few more months before you are hitting the pavement chasing after him-------time enough for you to start and aerobics class--ha!! |

Between us...my husband and I have six boys. All grown. All out of the home. They have also brought us 10 grandkids. We hardly ever get to see them as we work 7 days a week and they all live out of town.

Oh, I feel for you Kaylinda----I leave my granddaughter, Miranda, age almost 4, in about 4 days to go back overseas and it's so sad. My son and his wife are taking care of our home (plus it helps them out expenses-wise) while my hubby and I live overseas. I've now spent all summer long in the states and the thought of leaving her behind until December hurts. I took her out tonight after daycare to Chik-Fillet and apparently Monday nights is kids night where they have the dressed up cow, and an energetic young lady reading stories, making balloons, and face painting. Miranda was in orbit to say the least. She had so much fun and just loved that cow. There must have been 15 kids and that cow sure earned his or her money tonight as they were all hanging on him. Ha!! After a bath she fell asleep in my bed-----going to enjoy every minute the next 4 days.

Well, we old moms have been thru the ropes of life and I'm also a veteran early childhood, kindergarten, and elementary teacher. The best thing you can do for your child is to make him or her feel special and appreciated everyday. Your worries will become THEIR worries if you let them----your beliefs in their worthiness will "EMPOWER" them------do things with them and set boundaries and let them know how special they are to you. Each child is wonderful and different. The extra time that your son has had to explore his environment at the crawling stage will be so rewarding in the future as opposed to the child who was up and running at age 9 months (neither experience is superior to the other)-----bottom line----stay away from Moms who constantly brag about their kids---they are the most guilt-inducing people I know and so needy. Anyway, enjoy your son's accomplishments as they come----he's special and his childhood will only be here for a short time------stop worrying, sit back and relax, and be ready to jump on the roller coaster at any time. You're doing a great job just because you care!!!
