janie,

I have gotten my sis a subscription to "A Taste of Home" mag for several years now... she loves the mag and I enjoy looking thru them too!

Last year I joined a cookbook club for the millionth time to get a bounty of free books to hand out at holiday time, and I got 5 of ONE BOOK to give to everyone- "A Taste of Home's Baking Book". The year before it was "A Taste of Home's Slow Cooker Book". My whole gang loved them!

Those books sound wonderful.
I may look into that mag. I just signed up for Paula Deens magazine a few weeks ago.
Thats the same thing I have been doing with the book clubs lol. This is the third time. I have to get one more book to fulfill my obligations for the first couple I got. Just havent seen anything in what they have to offer I want yet.
As a matter of fact I should be getting a box from them today.

And believe it or not I got out a cook book I bought quite a while back on Crock Pot recipes and guess what it had listed as a recipe in that book?!? Ok give up, I'll tell ya' it was a recipe for LAMB TAGINE!!! That one went right past me unnoticed when I frist purchased the book, and why? Because I was not familiar with Moroccan cooking at the time and Tagine meant nothing to me what so ever! I feel so much smarter these days! LOL

Okay- any day now I'll be gettin' a trio of cookbooks that my sister ordered for me for my upcoming birthday: 1.) Brook's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: "Where Flavor Was Born: Recipes & Culinary Travels Along the Indian Ocean Spice Route" by Andreas Viestad and Mette Randem, and two l'il volumes highly favored by Cathy... 2.) "Basket of Berries" by Val Archer, and 3.) "Basket of Apples" also by Val Archer.

Also- by chance have you all seen that one of our FAV authors has a new book coming out in October? Link below...

Amazon.com: Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics: Fabulous Flavor from Simple Ingredients: Ina Garten: Books
