Well, planning ahead for St. patty's Day, I found this monstrous volume loaded w/ gorgeous photography for just 4 dollars used!

Amazon.com: The Country Cooking of Ireland (9780811866705): Colman Andrews: Books

Also, I have 2 dear friends who've asked me to lend our village library any cookbooks I have written by African-American authors for their coming "Black History Month" book celebration. I had several (below in red) and ordered five more (below in green)- all for 1-3 dollars each- used!

Well friends- the cookbooks above have strated rolling in!

Most folks know I like a big 'ol lap-crushing, back-breaking cookbook just chock-full of photos.

Among those that qualify to me are Christopher Idone's "Glorious American Food", Charlie Trotter's books, Thomas Keller's "The French Laundry"- those from the "Beautiful..." series... well- you get the idea- they're RARE.

Well, w/ St. Patty's Day coming up I ordered "The Country Cooking of Ireland" by Colman Anderews and let me tell you... I AM IMPRESSED.

The volume was published in 2009, and of course Andrews co-founded "Saveur" magazine.

This is one big 'ol mac-daddy book and the pictures are many, large and stunning! I ain't gonna be done feastin' on this one for a long while!

Also- Cathy... YOU especially would absolutely LOVE the Morgan Freeman Caribbean cookbook. Man- it's a handsome volume with stunning color pics and lotsa yummy-looking stuff, fer shure!

Well, I was SO impressed w/ "The Country Cooking of Ireland" that I also ordered a used copy of its sister-book, "The Country Cooking of France" by Anne Willan.

WOW. Is it possible to have TWO sister books BOTH so stunningingly beautiful? Evidently, it is! For this one appears outstanding and high quality as well.

Interestingly, thumbing through it after unwrapping- I find it covers many topics we've recently discussed here! Like cooking w/ horse meat, and the controversy over the appeal of froglegs, truffles and other coveted French delicasies.

Between this book and her sister cookbook on the foods of Ireland, I expect to get through the remainder of the BLIZZARD of 2010 just fine & dandy!

I had ordered this one before but it was out of stock. I picked it up a few days ago.
The Blue Willow Inn Bible of Southern Cooking. It is a good book but it is very country cooking. I'm not sure if I would recommend it to anyone yet. I havent had the chance to read it through.

I also got this one which I would highly recommend.

There are a few chicken recipes in the country living that I have to get typed into the computer to share Kev. They are wonderful.

Everyone's familiar w/ Martha Stewart Living Magazine. But has anyone ever actually seen one of her Annual Cookbooks that supposedly has every recipe from the whole year's worth of issues?

I found a couple of the extra-large annuals available used at Amazon for under a dollar! But only one of the years mentions that each recipe is also accompanied by the same lavish photo that accompanied it in the magazine. And since I really like cookbooks w/ pics- I'm wondering is each of her annuals has the pictures too? Hmmm...

I suppose at only 1 cent and 23 cents plus S&H it's worth the risk to order and see! I'll let you all know!

Went to SAMS and found several nice cookbooks at a great price. My favorite one is Taste of Home Baking Classics for $12.95. It contains 655 wonderful recipes in a big hard cover book. Got a couple of smaller nice cookbooks for $5 each. Taste of Home are my favorite cookbooks.
