    Default kitchenaid mixer

Does anybody else have a kitchenaid mixer. my husband surprised me with one about six months ago and I absolutely love that thing!! It is so good with making icings, cakes cookies, etc. I dont know how I made it without it.

I'm odd but i really had no use for my Kitchenaid. I received one as a wedding shower gift and never even opened it. Over a year later with never seeing a use for it (and living in a house with a very small kitchen and no room for it) my DH and I decided to return it and used the $$ towards a dishwasher instead.

The only thing i could see it being very helpful with is pizza dough, but my mom said i can borrow her Kitchenaid if i ever need to (she rarely/never uses hers either). I guess the types of things we cook just don't necessitate it?

We received one as a gift about two years ago. At first we didn't use it much, but our usage went up exponentially - the more we used it, the more we found reasons to use it. I make pretty much everything baked in it. We are always on the look out for more attachments, too. I found out recently that their is an ice cream churner attachment for it. I would LOVE to get that.

I love mine. ITA with the PP who said you find more uses for it. I do mashed potatoes and mashed sweet potatoes, almost all baked goods, I mix icings and batters. I really love it for bread dough- it makes lovely dough without all the work and without the ugly shape and questionable texture of a bread machine.

I love my KitchenAid mixer. I use it so often. Mostly for baking, but it has other uses too.

I have the ice cream attachment as well. It's not all that. I mean, it's nice because you can in fact make ice cream with it and it's more space-efficient than a regular ice cream maker, but it's hard to get it cold enough sometimes. And somehow it's extremely messy.

It's not a bad gadget, but generally I'd advise saving your money. I got it for Christmas a year and a half ago and I've used it twice.

Oh thanks for that info. I was wondering about that ice cream attachment. I have never made my own ice cream. But I would like to try one day. that would be neat.

I've been interested in a KitchenAid mixer because of the power, and the nice dough hook for making bread. I've put off buying one forever because I can buy a lot of nice bread for the bread that the mixer would cost I love homemade bread though, so maybe one day ...

Peach you are going to continue to love it for years and years. I've had mine forever and I use it every other day. Never had a problem with it and I've certainly put it through it's paces (back when I used to do bread dough). I have the meat grinder attachment and the strainer.

What colour is yours? Mine is basic white.

    Enjoy!

I am interested in having one, but right now, I just don't have the counter space and I tell myself that if I've made it this long without having one, maybe I don't really need one. Then again, not having one makes it a pain to make a lot of baked goods. Hmm...
