Default Smoothie Maker/Blender

I kept meaning to buy one of these for the longest time but was given one as a Christmas present. It is so great! We use it all the time lately. It is far superior to any traditional blender I have ever had. The little "stick" in the middle really does help mix up your food better. We've been enjoying smoothies on a regular basis lately and I think I'm going to try to make some orange julius' tonight!

I've always been a fan of the smoothie maker over the traditional blender. It works so much better. Besides, you can make smoothies. I mean, come on, you can't beat that!

Excuse me if I sound dumb. But how is a smoothie maker different from a Waring Blender? Are they larger, have some filter or something?

I haven't had a blender in a few years, but my smoothie maker has a stick in the middle that allows you to push the food around while the motor is running. My experience with blenders was that large chunks of food would remain untouched by the blades so you would have to stop the motor, and stick a wooden spoon in the try to make it so that when you start the motor again that the food would hit the blades. This would happen to me with ice a lot. With the little stick thing you don't have the happening. Plus my smoothie maker has a little spout to dispense whatever you're making.

I had no idea these things existed until about a year or year and a half ago. A friend had it on her wedding registry so I got it for her and then wanted one for myself. I was so pleased when it turned up as a Christmas present from my mom. : )

Can someone post some links to smoothie makers? We love making smoothies and we're currently using a food processor b/c our blender broke.

This is the smoothie maker I have. It looks to be a slightly newer version as mine is a few months old now and I noticed it had been on clearance for a while before my mom gave me it. So it makes sense that there would be a slightly updated version. Mine just has one button, this one seems to have three.

It's really amazing how useful these things are.

I always have frozen fruit around, and milk, and that's all I usually put in a smoothie. So I can have one anytime.

It's also amazing what a difference the stick in the middle makes. So much better than a blender!

Wow, that thing sounds awesome! I never knew that existed. I have never been able to find a blender which doesn't have that problem. Thanks!

I don't like smoothies or any other drink of the sort, although I do have a blender, but the one thing I do not blend is smoothies.
