I love my mandolin, but you would have to be a sadist to not use the safety slide..

I used to have a small chopper for onions but it wasn't too durable. It would be nice to have a good food processor though.

Hi ChefBoy,

What I do have is this simple little blender that is about 2 cup capacity, and it does wonders for small jobs. I even make pancake batter in mine, and chop & dice, and all kinds of salad dressing etc. I think it's a neat item to own and clean up is a breeze. It's just a small replica of a large blender and I believe it's a sunbeam? But you may like it so I thought I'd pass the info along

Cathy

You have meet my monster in law to full appreciate her. Remember that movie with Jane Fonda..Jons Mom should have been paid royalties We dont trade Christmas presents with them. Nothing is good enough for them unless it is very expensive and we just cannot afford that so for the past few years they dont shop for us and we dont shop for them. They have the same deal with Jons brother. We all go to their place and have dinner and watch Jons brothers two kids open their presents.
Jons Dads on the other hand. We always shop for him. He is a total sweetie and loves anything you get him and he and I both love to cook.

Hi JG,
I had to smile when I read your description of the Ma-in-law!
It is so funny how so many things change and evolve in time: everything that is except a mother-in-law...oh well it's kind of comforting to know some things are carved in stone!
I got my cookbooks in today, and they are beautiful. The cover gracing the book titled "the flavors of Morocco" is beautiful, I have just started it and will be up an hour over my usual bedtime just devouring this one! Thanks so much for letting us know about the cook book club!
Cathy

Im a delighted you are enjoying your books.
I messed my back up the other day and have finally been reading the ones that I got while recuperating. I really like Ina Garden's Barefoot Contessa at Home. She tells a story about putting up japanese cherry blosson wallpaper in one of their first apartments. It was in their bedroom. Once she was finished she realized she had hung every sheet upside down. She said she couldnt afford to redo it so for years she woke up to look at upside down cherry blossoms.

Ugh.I swear when I hear Jons moms voice on the answering machine I can feel a bit of pain in my ulcer
She always tells everyone that Jon is just like her sooo about a year after Jon and I got married Jons stepdad was taking me to pick our car up at the shop. He actually asked me to give him tips on getting along with her since I obviously was able to get along with Jon whom she says is just like her lol. I was like..Jons nothing like her.

Got a shipped notice email from Penney's yesterday.
Thats quick..maybe here today but Im guessing tomorrow.

Anyone use a indoor grill?
I got this one about three years ago when my second hamilton beach one started loosing the coating on it. I was always very careful with it but I learned you get what you pay for with those indoor grills. I have had the cuisnart for almost three years with heavy use it still looks new.

I got them early this morning.
The little chef chopper does awesome. Im very happy with it. Just a couple pulses and it chops a vidalia onion to perfection. The plunger like chopper does really nice for garlic and its easy to clean. Gonna make making Mama's marinara a breeze.

That little red chefs chopper is already become my favorite item. I used it to dice jalapeno for cornbread last night. I cut the peppers in half and seeded them. Put them in the chopper and two pulses they were chopped perfectly. I can cut them in half and seed them without getting them on my hands but I always got capsaicin on my hands trying to dice them. I hate working with gloves on.

SOS,

I need a waffle iron, and am hopeful that one of you (my wonderful forum friends) could point me in the right direction!

Thanks, Cathy
